The MacKenzie Orthodontics team had a lot of fun at the Canadian Association of Orthodontists conference in Fredericton, NB. The theme of the meeting was “Setting It Straight” which refers to all the hard work, education and knowledge that goes into treatment planning for the individual patient in contrast to the direct-to-consumer orthodontic appliances available for purchase.
The Canadian Association of Orthodontists is the largest organization of orthodontists in Canada and meets once a year in a different location. This year we were very fortunate to be able to take the MacKenzie Orthodontics team and drive to the conference location.
We learned a lot from the lectures on mutli-disciplinary treatment planning: when a patient requires treatment not just by an orthodontist, but also by an oral surgeon, or a periodontist, or a prosthodontist. We also saw all the new technologies on the orthodontic market: intraoral scanners, devices to accelerate tooth movement, and clear aligners.
We had a great time as a team, and especially enjoyed the Presidents’ reception held at the Lieutenant Governor’s Residence.
