Is there an orthodontist near Sussex, NB?

Yes, in Quispamsis. MacKenzie Orthodontics has no office in Sussex itself. Our clinic at 120 Millennium Drive in Quispamsis is the closest of our three clinics to Sussex. Sussex is about 30 minutes away from our Quispamsis office and many families like the convenience of a practice immediately off the highway.

Dr. MacKenzie is a specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and she is fluent in English and French. Our Quispamsis clinic offers the full range of treatment, and you are welcome at our Saint John and St. Stephen clinics too. Find the clinic details on our Quispamsis and Rothesay page.

Can we start with a virtual consultation?

Yes. We offer virtual consultations by video call for busy patients and for families who travel to see us. Choose Virtual on the free consult form.

You meet Dr. MacKenzie and our Treatment Coordinator on screen. Dr. MacKenzie looks at your smile on your camera and talks through treatment options and payment plans, and then we book an in-person exam at the office of your choice. Read What to Expect at Your Virtual Consult.

How often will we need to come in?

It depends on your treatment. Most clear aligner patients come in every 3 to 4 months, and patients who live far away can use remote monitoring to space their visits out even more.

Teens in braces usually have adjustments 4 to 10 weeks apart. With remote monitoring, we check your progress between visits, and many check-ins can happen virtually. We set your appointment schedule with you at your consultation, based on your treatment and where you live. See our clear aligner FAQs.

Can I get Invisalign or clear aligners near Sussex?

Yes. Our Quispamsis clinic offers Invisalign and Angel Aligner, and Dr. MacKenzie recommends the system that suits your teeth and your bite.

You wear clear aligners 22 hours a day and take them out to eat and to brush and floss, so there are no food restrictions. Most of our patients finish in 12 to 24 months, and a short touch up for teeth that have shifted takes 2 to 3 months. Angel Aligner has its elastic hooks built into the aligner, so no elastic buttons are glued to your teeth, and there are fewer emergency appointments. Read Invisalign and Clear Aligners and Angel Aligner.

Can I get braces near Sussex?

Yes. Every patient at our practice gets the option of braces or clear aligners, and they cost the same here.

With braces you can choose silver with colours, clear ceramic or self-ligating. Our Quispamsis clinic also offers palatal expanders, Phase 1 treatment for children, Propel accelerated orthodontics and TMJ treatment. If a wire pokes or a bracket comes loose between visits, orthodontic wax covers the sharp edge until we can repair it. See our Braces page.

When should my child first see an orthodontist?

By age 7. Early evaluation is always free at MacKenzie Orthodontics.

The Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Most children are simply monitored at that age, with a check-up about once a year, and Dr. MacKenzie tells you the right time to begin treatment if your child needs it. If your child has a cleft, a craniofacial condition or another concern your doctor or dentist has raised, we are glad to see them well before age 7. Read about growth monitoring for kids.

Do you treat teens and adults?

Yes. There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment, provided your teeth and gums are healthy.

Clear aligners come out for sports and special events, and remote monitoring means less time out of class or away from work. For adults who need comprehensive correction, Angel Aligner is typically our first recommendation. See Treatment for Teens and Treatment for Adults.

What is included in a free consultation?

Your free in-person consultation includes a clinical exam, digital x-rays, clinical photos, a 3D intraoral scan and a personalized smile simulation, at no cost and with no obligation.

You meet Dr. MacKenzie one on one and leave with a clear, no-pressure treatment recommendation and an itemized breakdown of the cost. Most consultations take about 40 minutes. Please bring your dental insurance information, and for a child’s consultation, both parents should ideally be present. Read Your First Visit.

How can I pay for orthodontic treatment?

We offer 0% interest monthly payment plans, and we direct bill most major insurance providers.

Payments can be made by automatic debit or credit card. Low and no down payment options and pay-in-full discounts are available, and there is no tax on our payments. See Payment Plans.
