Do you accept dental insurance?
Yes. We accept most major insurance providers and direct bill on your behalf whenever possible.
Before your first visit, you can enter your dental insurance information online, using the link in your welcome email. At the consultation, our Treatment Coordinator walks you through your insurance and payment details, and our Financial Coordinator is there for insurance questions. See Your First Visit.
What does direct billing mean?
It means we send the claim to your insurance company for you, and the insurer pays its share to us. You pay only the part your plan does not cover, rather than paying the full fee and waiting to be paid back.
Not every plan allows direct billing, which is why we say whenever possible. If yours does not, our team will review your benefits with you at your consultation.
Does dental insurance cover braces and clear aligners?
Many plans cover part of the cost, but the amount and the rules vary widely. Coverage for children is more common than coverage for adults.
Many employer dental plans in New Brunswick cover orthodontic care for dependents, while adult coverage is often limited, capped or left out entirely. Many plans have a lifetime maximum for orthodontics, some have an age limit, and some pay their share in instalments during treatment rather than all at once. Braces, Angel Aligner and Invisalign cost the same at our practice. See Invisalign and Aligners for Adults and How Much Does Adult Orthodontic Treatment Cost in NB?.
What should I ask my insurance provider?
Ask about your lifetime orthodontic maximum, whether adults are covered or there is an age limit, and how the plan pays: all at once or in instalments over your treatment.
It also helps to ask what share of the fee the plan pays, since many pay a percentage up to the lifetime maximum, and whether it asks for a predetermination before treatment starts. Bring the answers and your insurance details to your free consultation.
What is a predetermination?
A predetermination, sometimes called a pre-treatment estimate, is your treatment plan and fee sent to your insurer before treatment starts. The insurer replies with what it expects to pay, so you know your share before you begin.
Many insurers suggest one for orthodontic treatment. It is an estimate, not a guarantee, because what the insurer finally pays depends on your coverage at the time of each claim, for example if you change jobs or plans during treatment. Ask our team about it at your consultation.
How will I know what I owe?
We break every estimate into three figures: the total treatment fee, your insurance contribution and your remaining balance. We go through them at your free consultation, before you commit to anything.
Our fees follow the New Brunswick Dental Fee Guide. Our team checks your coverage and builds your payment plan around it, and there is no tax on our payments and no hidden fees. See Payment Plans and Cost, Insurance, and Financing.
Can I use a Health Spending Account?
Yes, where you have one. A Health Spending Account can be used to pay for orthodontic treatment with pre-tax dollars.
Some families use it alongside their dental plan, for the part the plan does not pay. Check with your plan administrator what it covers and how much is left for the year.
What if I do not have orthodontic insurance?
You are still very welcome. Many adults have no orthodontic coverage at all, and our 0% interest payment plans let you spread the fee over your treatment.
We offer low and no down payment options, monthly payments by automatic debit or credit card, and a discount if you pay in full. There is no tax on our payments, and you can find more on our Payment Plans page.
Does insurance cover jaw surgery?
In New Brunswick, the hospital procedures needed for jaw surgery are generally covered by Medicare. The surgeon’s consultation and planning fees, and the orthodontic part of treatment, are separate.
Your dental plan may pay part of the orthodontic portion, depending on its rules. We encourage you to confirm your coverage directly, and we are happy to help you understand how the orthodontic part fits into your overall cost. Read Orthognathic Surgery.
